6. International conflicts
The world is divided into trading blocks.
3 Factors to note:
1) Israel – Are u pro-Israel or Anti-Israel?
2) Oil
3) Terrorism – Terrorist tries to make people to be Islamic in order to hold oil.
2 factors that lead to Oil-rich
1) hatred for Israel
2) export for oil.
There will be 2 last wars before the end of age.
1) The invasion of Israel by Russia and her Islamic allies.
Read Ezekiel Chapters 38 & 39. It will happen during the Mid Tribulation. God will intervene in this situation.
2) Last war – Battle at Amarggedon
Revelation 16:13-16 -> Unholy trinity following God.
Revelation 16:13-16 (New International Version)
13Then I saw three evil[a] spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.
15"Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed."
16Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.
Revelations 19: 11-16 God intervenes and set up a millennium on earth.
Revelation 19:11-16 (New International Version)
The Rider on the White Horse
11I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter."[a] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
God is a God of wrath.
Verse 12 : Jesus come to make war. Jesus is the word.
When the word of God is in your heart, you will walk according to the word of God.
Revelations 19: 19-21
19Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. 20But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.
Verse 19: It will happen to those who cling onto their anti-God sentiments due to their pride. Pride is very blinding.
Verse 20: Hell is real, Heaven is very real too. Never deny the existence of Hell. God cannot over-ride our free will.
Those who bless the Jews will be blessed.
Those who curse the Jews will be cursed.
The shaking has already began. When the Soviet Union went defunct, the nuclear weapons will go missing.
Dealing with North Korea is like dealing with a drug addict. Same applies to Iran due to their nuclear weapons. Russia tries to back north Korea and Iran.
7. Environmental crises
Due to the climate change in Bali, Man’s recklessness and greed, it resulted in air pollution, water pollution, rapid loss of forest trees (Indonesia); near extinction of many creatures and depletion of the ozone layer.
Global warming means constant increasing in temperature worldwide, excessive emission of the carbon dioxide, constant loss of forest trees and the ozone layer badly damaged.
3 Terrible effects of the Global Warming are:
a) the melting of the glaciers in the North.
b) Rising ocean, sea and river water.
c) Heat waves.
We need to pray for our government to receive insights from God. Keep on praying for our nation Singapore.
Global warming is real and warming. We cannot reverse global warming. We can reduce global warming.
The 2 factors of Global warming are:
1) to reduce global warming is by reducing emissions which will cause our economies to drop.
2) Cope with global warming.
Luke 21:25-26 (New International Version)
25 "There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26 Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
Shifting of the planets will happen when the 6th seal is broken.
Verse 25: The nations are in distress, it will be increasing. The distress of the nations with perplexity (means no way out).
When circumstances change, our value system will change. For example: family, trust in God and genuine love.
You must always live with an end in mind. Those who trust Him, He will make us safe under His wings.
Everything is paving way for the Anti-Christ.
This is the generation that will see Jesus Christ in the clouds. This is the time to show forth the glory, the love and power of Jesus Christ.
Our aim is to show them the glory, the love and power of Jesus Christ. Tell people He is able to heal and deliver.
Faith must not be anything earthly. Faith must not be put on Man because Man can fall. Faith must be put on God.
I have Jesus in me. It means:
a) the Spirit of Jesus is in You.
b) The word of God is in You.
If we trust God, we will not be afraid.
Hello All, A very warm welcome to Rhemalovers blog is a inspirational blog to encourage your walk with God.God bless all of you in His divine abundance. health, and revelation.

The Unshakable Foundation Part 2 on 2 December 2007
Hebrews 12:25-29 (New International Version)
25 See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? 26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens."[a] 27 The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our "God is a consuming fire."
3 Basic Constitutions of God are:
1) Family unit
2) Church
3) Government
3. Social Crisis
Family unit is being shaken up. Shared values, shared lifestyles, addiction to online gaming and violence gaming is on the rise. Police brutality in the US. New York police are on the takes of bribes. There is a huge market for illicit sex, violence and bloodshed.
Investment in sin is the ín’ thing. For example: bull-fighting (originated in Spain where a matador uses a red flag to irritate the bull to charge after him), cock-fighting ( this can be found in Thailand where tons of people place bets over the bloodshed fights of the cocks), casino, stock markets, sinful pleasures allowed by the government, immorality, child prostitution and AIDS.
1st emergence of AIDS is from the gay community. Not all gays fight for their rights.
Rebuke unnecessary spirits in the mighty name of Jesus.
Family unit is the social blues of our society. For example: Abused family, people who love evil endlessly, people who live aimlessly resulting in having suicidal thoughts and Inequality which means the poor becoming very poor , the rich becoming very rich and the super rich becoming super rich.
Live by the precepts of God by trusting Him.
4. Energy Crisis
Oil production is peaking up and decline. When we use excessive oils, we will create global warming. When there is an acute shortage, there will be war and economic breakdown. Oil will be used as a political weapon.
5. Economic uncertainties
7 Factors that trigger economic uncertainties
1) Continuous supply of affordable oil.
2) No major wars
3) No major national upheavals around the world.
4) No major eruptions in the Middle East.
5) No major natural disasters around the globe.
6) No major crop failures.
7) Control of pestilences.
Our heart must not be anchored on the troubles of this world, but our heart must be anchored on God.
We need to be:
1) Optimistic about Christ’s coming.
2) Optimistic in Christ’s character.
3) Optimistic that God will hold our hand.
Trust in the infinite power of God. He is the Alpha and the Omega. Make sure that our value and priority system are right.
2 Timothy 1:12 (New International Version)
12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.
If we have Jesus in our heart, when the world go down , then our heart will go up.

During the days of Israelites, God speaks to Moses and Joshua.
When God speaks, the mountain and the islands will shake.
Verse 27 things are going to be shaken for one purpose. Whatever things that cannot be shaken are the permanent things of God. Our souls last forever.
Verse 28: the kingdom of God cannot be moved. The kingdom of God is within us. We must be a people of Holiness in godly reverence and fear.
Verse 29 : God is a consuming fire.
When there is a wide-spread sin in Christians, God will release a judgement for shake-up.
If God judge them as He spoke on earth, how much more when He spoke from Heaven?
7 Seals reveal soon coming Shake-up
1. Political and religious deception
2. International wars
3. Global famine
4. Global pestilences
5. Religious persecutions worldwide
6. Violence and death throughout the world
7. Seismic and cosmic shake-up
7 areas in which the shaking has begun

2. Government Crisis
3. Social Crisis
4. Energy Crisis
5. Economic Crisis
6. International Conflicts
7. Environmental Crisis
1. Spiritual Crisis
Enter a relationship with God. We can have a spirit of God to bring the healing power of God.
There will come a time, paper will not be worth anything. There will be major explosion.
We are the salt and light of the world.
John 14:11-12 (New International Version)
11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
There will be a shake-up in churches. Shaking is something that will cause things that are immovable and unshakable to remain.
Revelations 3: 14-19 speaks about the Lukewarm churches.
Revelation 3:14-19 (New International Version)
To the Church in Laodicea
14"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. 15I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. 19Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.
Verse 19 – the church can be rich (did not care about the things of God) in materials, possessions, people; but it can be spiritually poor.
Revelation 3:7-13 (New International Version)
To the Church in Philadelphia
7"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write:
These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. 8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. 9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. 10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth. 11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12 Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. 13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Verse 10 – we are kept from the hour of temptation.
2. Governmental crisis
Too many government are corrupted. Many are filthy rich, many are poor due to the corrupt government.
It is difficult to find a suitable leader for a nation. Leader must have both character and competence.
Families are breaking increasingly at an alarming rate. Drug abuse rampant. Evil and wickedness are glamourised.
2 points to note about America are as follows:
1) they sent missionaries around the world.
2) they are supporting God’s chosen people.
4 possible reasons how will America lose her status are as follows:
1) Disunity and chaos. Eg. gay issues, Different laws in different states in major issues.
2) Probability of major terrorists’attacks. Many terrorists are US citizens.
3) Enemies’ Ultimate weapon of Oil. All the nations are vieying for oil. US is the only constitution that is built based on the Bible.
4) Rapture reason.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (New International Version)
1 Timothy 2
Instructions on Worship
1I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Begin to thank God and praise God and pray for those in authority. Do it everyday. Pray that our leaders make wise decisions.
Verse 2 – pray for the leaders so that we can live a peaceful life that the gospel may penetrate in every life.
Verse 3 – When our nation is at peace, it is pleasing to God.
Pray for the government everyday. Pray for good credible people to come into the government.

The Drum
The Drum by Rachel Olsen
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.”
1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
Devotion:
“Pa rum pa pum pum” goes the line 21 times in of one of my favorite Christmas carols: The Little Drummer Boy. Yes, I know it’s not even December yet – or even Thanksgiving - but I’m already listening to Christmas music. I can’t help it! I’ve even been known to play Christmas CDs in the middle of July. Carols just stir in me a heady, delicious, reverent awe of God.
The lyrics to The Little Drummer Boy tell the story of a young boy who has come to see the baby Jesus, the newborn King of the Jews. As he stands staring into the meager manger he tells the infant, “Little Baby, I am a poor boy too. I have no gift to bring that’s fit for our King.” And then he offers his services to the Lord by asking, “Shall I play for you?” Mary gives the nod and the little boy begins to play the simple drum hanging round his neck – wanting to play his absolute best for Jesus.
As I listen to this Christmas carol, I so identify with that little boy who has no fancy gifts to bring Jesus. Like him, all I can do is offer myself and what I know how to do in service to Him. For the little drummer boy that was to strike rhythmic beats on his instrument and make music. For me it’s to string words together to teach and encourage – whether at home, in the classroom, or in writing. Words are my drum.
We’ve each been given a “drum” to play – as today’s verse and the power verses below assure. What is yours? Are you playing it in service to Him?
As the song ends, it describes the baby Jesus smiling in pleasure at the little drummer boy. As our lives draw to a close we’ll have the chance to stand before Jesus and find out what He thinks of how we’ve spent our time and used our “drums.” Aim with me for the response, “Well done my good and faithful servant!” (Matt 25:21).
The Little Drummer Boy
by Davis, Onorati and Simeone:
Come they told me (pa-rum pum pum pum)
A newborn King to see (pa-rum pum pum pum)
Our finest gifts we bring (pa-rum pum pum pum)
To lay before the King
So to honor Him (pa-rum pum pum pum)
when we come
Little Baby (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I am a poor boy too (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I have no gifts to bring (pa-rum pum pum pum)
that's fit to give our King
Shall I play for You? (pa-rum pum pum pum)
On my drum
Mary nodded (pa-rum pum pum pum)
The ox and lamb kept time (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I played my drum for Him (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I played my best for Him
Then He smiled at me (pa-rum pum pum pum)
Me and my drum
Dear Lord, help me make a pleasing chorus of my life. Show me where I can serve You today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

As our lives draw to a close we’ll have the chance to stand before Jesus and find out what He thinks of how we’ve spent our time and used our “drums.” Aim with me for the response, “Well done my good and faithful servant!” (Matt 25:21).

Our finest gifts we bring (pa-rum pum pum pum)
To lay before the King
So to honor Him (pa-rum pum pum pum)

I have no gifts to bring (pa-rum pum pum pum)
that's fit to give our King
Shall I play for You? (pa-rum pum pum pum)
On my drum

I played my drum for Him (pa-rum pum pum pum)
I played my best for Him

"AS GOD'S ANOINTED, WE ARE TO BIRTH WHAT IS OF THE SPIRIT"
Taffie Furr:
"AS GOD'S ANOINTED, WE ARE TO BIRTH WHAT IS OF THE SPIRIT"
The Church was birthed 2,000 years ago, but she, the true Church, really has been hidden away for the most part. It's in this generation that the Church is coming of age and is about to be "revealed" as who she really is--the glorious Bride of Christ.
The "awkward, unsure of who she is" stage is about to be done away with. The Bride will shine forth, knowing who she has been created to be. The glory of her Groom shall shine brightly upon her and all who see her unveiled face (as who she has been transformed into) will know Who it is that she belongs to. For it is His seal--the covenant seal of His Holy Spirit which is the evidence and the radiance she is adorned with. The Church was birthed and is now coming of age and ready to give birth. And to WHAT is the Church birthing? The glory of the Lord displayed as "His Kingdom come!"
We Cannot Carry What is Of the Flesh
Earlier this year, the Holy Spirit told me that He is purifying His Church; and He said that there is a separation coming first to the Western Church, then reaching into the entire world. It is a separation of what has been birthed from the flesh and what is birthed from the Spirit of God. We will be seeing many ministries and projects and churches being exposed; and among them, those who have been self-appointed, claiming to be in service to the Lord, will suddenly step down as the purifying of the Church begins.
Those who have been commissioned by God to be His anointed leaders, called to carry His presence, will not be allowed to keep alive anything that has been birthed out of the flesh. God is calling forth a Bride that is pure, without spot or blemish. A Bride that conceives and gives birth to only what is of her Husband's Seed and not of another.
Within the perfect will of God, when the marriage is consummated, there is an exchange of blood and this is actually a blood covenant that has taken place between the bride and groom. It is a covenant that God recognizes as existing for life. When we receive Jesus as Savior, we are partaking of the Blood of Jesus and in so doing, we are partaking in a marriage covenant with Him as His Bride. It is also a covenant recognized by God that extends throughout life eternal.
Prior to the new covenant with Jesus, we were married to the law. Since God recognizes covenants as a lifelong binding agreement by His plan of design, the way to be free of a marriage covenant is for one of the two people to die. So, in order to be free from the law, there had to be death. Jesus came and fulfilled the law and released us from it through His death. The word says that when we were baptized into Christ Jesus, we were baptized into His death, we were buried with Him; and just as He was raised from the dead, we were also resurrected with Him, into a newness of life. The old man passed away and we became a new creation. Therefore, freeing us from being married to the law and now by His grace, we are being transformed into the Bride of Christ.
Colossians 2:20-23, "Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations--'Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,' which all concern things which perish with the using--according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh."
Liberty By Grace
The keeping of religious traditions or of legalistic doctrines and regulations (Jesus calls them "the commandments of men") is conceived and birthed of the flesh. This is because of a false mindset that there is a need to perform by works, or to receive or to maintain righteousness. This type of mindset yokes you into bondage with the spirit of religion and opposes the Word of God which declares liberty by grace.
We are made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus through grace and "not by works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:9). By the Spirit of God we have been set at liberty from the law. The keeping of the law is bondage and we are only under that bondage, again, if we go back to it and place ourselves under the bondage of the law.
Galatians 4:23-26, "But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar...." Verse 26, "but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all." Verse 30-31, "Nevertheless what does the Scriptures say? 'Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the free woman.' So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free."
Galatians 5:1, 4,"Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace."
You cannot live in the perfect law of liberty, which is grace, and also strive to keep some of the law, because then you've denied the sufficiency of grace and are bound to keep the entire law. If we continue to go back to the old covenant law, we are being driven back to the old mindset by the religious spirit, and we are not walking towards the goal of being the pure and spotless Bride of Christ.
Abide in Him and Not the Flesh
David was the anointed leader of God. He was chosen by God to be king among the people--God's anointed. If you recall in 2 Samuel chapters 11-12, David and Bathsheba committed adultery from which they gave birth to a son, conceived of the flesh. David's son is symbolic of what was conceived and birthed from the desire of the flesh, which is sinful in its own nature.
In James 1:14-15, the Word says this about the desire of the flesh, "But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desire and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death."
Flesh gives way to sin, and in sin is the seed of death. The seed symbolizes the spirit. The spirit of sin brings death, but the Spirit of holiness which is the Holy Spirit--brings life.
In John 15:4-5, Jesus tells us, "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
Whatever you are rooted in is what kind of fruit you will produce. If you are a branch on a vine, you will produce the fruit of that particular type of vine. It is impossible to produce a fruit different from what the vine is that you are a branch of.
Jesus says in Matthew 7:17-20, "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them."
In other words, you can know the type of tree that the fruit came from without ever seeing the tree itself, just by discerning what the fruit is. If the fruit is corrupt, then the seed is corrupt, as well as the tree because the fruit did not produce itself; it is a product of the tree of which it came from.
Throughout history, there have been many people come and go that are speaking and doing things they say are in the name of the Lord, but have actually been far from His will. Some have influenced and swayed many from the truth of the Word of God. That's why it is absolutely necessary that we abide in Jesus. For in this place of abiding in Him, is where we will know Him intimately enough to quickly recognize when an imposter comes posing in His name. When we draw near to God in an intimate fellowship, we are abiding in the presence of His Spirit; and in the presence of the Holy Spirit, there is perfect liberty.
John 8:32, "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Verse 36, "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."
Yoked by Religious Doctrines
Regulations, traditions, commandments of men and religious doctrines do not make us free. The Son of the Most High God makes us free, and in Him, only, are we made free. Within the rules and regulations of manmade doctrine and religion, there is no place for liberty and very little allowance for grace. And in the pursuit of trying to perform and keep the statutes of those doctrines, a person actually becomes yoked with that religion.
John 8:37-44, "'I know that you are Abraham's descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you. I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your Father.' They answered and said to Him, 'Abraham is our father.' Jesus said to them, 'If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. You do the deeds of your father.'"
"Then they said to Him, 'We were not born of fornication, we have one Father-God.' Jesus said to them, 'If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth, and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it."
You can see that with their words, they claimed to be rooted in God, but in discerning the true identity of their fruit, they proved to be rooted elsewhere. Everything on the outside may have looked as if they were rooted in God as they did many religious acts, and even in their speech they were proclaiming to be of God. But the keeping of legalistic traditions prevents the liberty of the Holy Spirit from being free to move among us and through us. When examining the root of why legalistic traditions are enforced, it seems to take us back to the same reasons the Pharisees were wanting to kill the very Word of God.
God wants our whole heart given to Him. Why? Because if our entire heart is not set on Him, then some portion of our heart must be given to something else. And that is where the opening is made for flesh to conceive and give birth to what is not from God.
Matthew 15:13, "Every plant which My Heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted." God cannot bless what is conceived and birthed from the flesh and allow it to continue to abide in the hiddenness amidst what He has anointed. The seed within the product of the flesh is corrupt and cannot produce anything other than corruption.
Pursue Holiness and Truth
Yes, we are now seeing that along the years, much of the Church has strayed away and has conceived and birthed what was of the flesh and yet proclaimed it was of God. Because He is holy, we too are to be holy and are to pursue holiness, which comes by way of receiving His grace in faith, NOT by works. We cannot allow that which is defiling (manmade religious doctrine and legalistic regulations) to remain among us. As we surrender more and more to Him and turn away from what we once thought was the pursuit of holiness, we are bound to see and move in many different areas of the Holy Spirit that are not so familiar to us. And that's alright because there is so much to God, that we will never be able to experience every facet of Him while we are still in these earthen vessels. As to that matter, I'm not sure we will be able to experience every facet of Him, even throughout all of eternity!
I don't know about you, but with each passing day, I find myself more and more grateful for the grace that is poured out to me through Jesus Christ! David was a man after God's own heart because he humbled himself and repented. After repentance, David and Bathsheba, then being in the will of God, gave birth to a son, Solomon, whose wisdom and understanding was multiplied greater than any other man's.
In the spring of this year, the Lord spoke to me saying, "There is a separation now beginning. A separation of the sheep and the goats (Matthew 25:32-33). There are herdsmen who have been trying to drive My sheep in the wrong direction," says the Lord. "The herdsmen are unclean spirits, imposters of the truth. The herdsmen are those spirits that are the driving force behind those who have the appearance of godliness but deny the power (2 Timothy 3:5). The power of godliness is the transforming power of the Holy Spirit that is able to transform the heart and renew the mind."
God is raising up the worshipers in these last days. John 4:23-24 says, "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." The appearance of worship without the active participation of the heart is only vain religion. God says, "As My Spirit of Truth moves upon you, cutting off the apostasy of the flesh, receive of the fresh revelation that My Spirit brings, which is the manna that you shall be fed daily. Do not run away because of what seems strange to you, for this is My truth and My beckoning."
Our wonderful Lord has given us this time of awakening that we may clearly see the bondages that have held us captive. And now we are being awakened to transform into the glorious liberty--the true liberty of the Holy Spirit.
Church! Let us rejoice in this: We are His anointed and we are about to BIRTH what is of Him, and how beautiful it is--full of life, drenched in His love and liberty, and bearing His likeness and His name!

Ruined for good
Ruined for Good by Lysa TerKeurst
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
Proverbs 15:1 (NIV)
Devotion:
If you have kids, then I’m sure you’ve felt the frustration of having things ruined. Maybe you’ve experienced grape juice on the carpet, scratches on hardwood floors, permanent ink on your favorite shirt, or something similar. Ashley once went up the stairway with a crayon putting tick marks on our freshly painted walls with each step she took. Then she dragged the crayon all the way down the hall to her room. Yes, I said freshly painted walls. I wanted to pull my hair out by the roots!
I’d like to be a mom who handles mishaps and messes with a graceful, “That’s okay, Dear.” But I’m wired with firecrackers in my blood. So, I have to make the choice to let the Holy Spirit reign me in. This means getting into God’s Word every day and praying for Him to give me grace, patience and self-control. I have to make the choice every day to invite God’s spirit to interrupt my fleshly tendencies so that I can have gentle answers that turn away wrath.
God helps me with this through perspective changers. He shows me a different way to look at and process things that trigger my emotions. In response to my frustration with my kids ruining things, He gave me a sweet change of perspective that improved my outlook and diffused my anger.
While visiting Art’s parents, I took a liking to a writing desk in their home. I mentioned to my mother-in-law that I’d love to have it if she ever decided to get rid of it. But she was quick to tell me that she would never get rid of it because it was priceless. She unlatched the fold-down lid to reveal what made this desk so priceless. In a little boy’s handwriting the letters A-R-T were scratched onto the surface. She admitted to being angry with my husband when this happened, but now the scratches that seemed to have ruined her desk are priceless treasures to her. Her little boy’s handwriting is saved for her to cherish and remember. The desk had been ruined…for good.
Dear Lord, Thank You for perspective changes that help us to see past the here and now so that we can see Your truth which sets us free. We are freed from anger, firecracker emotions, short fuses and explosive tempers…free to reveal the YOU in us! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Ultimate Franchise
The Ultimate Franchise by Os Hillman
And He said unto them, How is it that ye sought Me? Wist ye not that I must be about My Father's business? - Luke 2:49 KJV
Earth is God's business. He has set up many franchises (churches) designed to send His representatives (Body of Christ) into the world to make known the best product ever given to mankind (Jesus). His branch managers (pastors) have been given the responsibility to teach and support those in the field. God's goal is to establish a franchise in every nation, state, and city. It is the ultimate business because when you introduce someone to His product (Jesus), you receive a reward from the home office (Heaven). God has promised that His representatives will have all the tools and customer support needed to accomplish their strategic plans.
Jesus knew that He was to be about His Father's business. He knew He was sent to earth not to enjoy the pleasures of lowly man, but to accomplish a task for which He alone was sent. When He had accomplished His mission, He was to entrust this mission to other representatives into whom He poured His life for three years. This field training allowed Jesus to mentor, model, befriend, and demonstrate firsthand the model for a successful business to be launched and sustained.
God has big plans for His franchise. He wants every human being to partake of His product; however, even God knows that not everyone will. Nevertheless, this does not thwart His efforts in seeking to make it known among His audience.
You have been called to be part of the ultimate franchise. How many new recruits have you been responsible for bringing into the franchise lately?

The 7th seal
Revelations 7: 1-8
144,000 Sealed
1After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3"Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God." 4Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.
5From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,
from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,
from the tribe of Gad 12,000,
6from the tribe of Asher 12,000,
from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,
from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,
7from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,
from the tribe of Levi 12,000,
from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,
8from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,
from the tribe of Joseph 12,000,
from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.
4 winds symbolize the intensified Global judgement of God.
All the judgements of 7 seals died down.
Jewish Evangelists are consecrated. They are also empowered and immune by the intensified judgements and forces.
Revelations 14: 1 – Seal on the forehead
The Lamb and the 144,000

Revelations 22: 4 – We are going to be sealed by God.
4They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
Jewish people are the people of promise.
Romans 11: 25-27
V25. Every Gentile will be saved.
Zechariah 8:20-23
20 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come, 21 and the inhabitants of one city will go to another and say, 'Let us go at once to entreat the LORD and seek the LORD Almighty. I myself am going.' 22 And many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the LORD Almighty and to entreat him."
23 This is what the LORD Almighty says: "In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, 'Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.'
The Jews (God’s chosen ones) is going to be wooed by God. They are the ones who will preached the gospel in great power.

The Great Multitude in White Robes
9After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10And they cried out in a loud voice:
"Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb." 11All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12saying:
"Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!"
Matthew 24:4 All the nations will have a chance to hear the gospel.
4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
Revelation 7:13-17 (New International Version)
13Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?"
14 I answered, "Sir, you know."
And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15Therefore,
"they are before the throne of God
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.
16 Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.
The sun will not beat upon them,
nor any scorching heat.
17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
he will lead them to springs of living water.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
A group of people did not go through the Great Tribulation but instead came out of the Great Tribulation, they did not die. They are supernaturally removed by the Angels.

The Seventh Seal and the Golden Censer
1When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
2And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.
3Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. 4The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand. 5Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

Forget the Past
Forget the Past
By Greg Laurie
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14
Everyone who has run a race knows that you can break your stride by looking over your shoulder to see how your opponents are doing. Many races have been lost when the leader looked back. When you see that finish line, you are supposed to give it everything you have, because sometimes it is mere inches that separate one runner from another. You must stay focused.
This is the idea behind Paul's statement in Philippians 3:13: "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead." Paul was saying, "Don't look back. Don't look behind you."
When God promises, "I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins" (Isaiah 43:25), He is not predicting a lapse in His memory. God is saying. "I am no longer going to hold your sin against you, because my Son has paid for it at the cross."
Therefore, we need to do what God does: forget our past. We need to learn from our mistakes and remember some of the bitter lessons we have learned. But we no longer need to be controlled by our past.
That is what Paul meant by "forgetting those things which are behind. . . . " Think about the horrible things Paul had done. He was responsible for the death of Stephen and had to carry that in his conscience until his final day. He knew that he was responsible for some terrible things. But he was able to put his past in the past. And we need to do the same.

Forgive Your Offenders!
Forgive Your Offenders!

Jim could not understand why his sons were reacting to him. Although he was sometimes hard on them if they failed to keep their word, he reasoned that responsibility was an important character quality that they should develop.
Responsibility is an important quality for children to learn, but why was Jim so harsh in teaching it to his sons? The reason could be traced back to a time when Jim was a boy and his father failed to keep an important promise to him. One day Jim’s father had informed Jim that he would be going to summer camp. At first, Jim was hesitant to leave, because he was raising pigeons and there would be no one to take care of them while he was gone. However, his father assured Jim that he would take personal responsibility for the care of the pigeons while Jim was gone.
When Jim returned from camp, he rushed out to see his pigeons. To his horror, they were all dead! His father had failed to care for them. The pain of the situation grew even worse when his father flippantly said, “Oh, I forgot, but they were just a bunch of pigeons. You can get some more.” Jim developed a deep resentment toward his father, and this resentment was now affecting the way he responded to his sons and others.
The need to fully forgive offenders from the heart is clearly given in this important command:
“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” (Matthew 18:21-22)
It is possible that Peter’s concern in asking this question was that an offender be properly punished. Jesus knew that such a perspective would never allow Peter to experience the power of the Holy Spirit. Peter needed a bigger perspective—one that would change his heart from self-centeredness to self-examination, from vindictiveness to viewing all of his sins that God had forgiven.
The principles of forgiveness that Jesus taught Peter are vital for us to understand as well. The Book of I Peter is like a “handbook for the hurting” and gives practical instruction on how to respond to offenses.
When we do not forgive, we are hindered from being the people God intends for us to be.
If we fail to fully forgive those who have hurt us, we will develop reactionary and defensive spirits that will damage other relationships in our lives. We may not even be aware of our negative attitudes, but those around us will notice them. Some will learn to live with them, concluding that “this is just the way we are.” Others will react to our attitudes, which will cause new hurts.
How have we responded to offenses in the past? Have we become angry and bitter, or have we shown forgiveness and love? Let’s ask God to teach us the keys to forgiveness and to give us the grace needed to obey this vital command.
Through Christ our Lord,
Bill Gothard

Much is required from those to whom much is given
Dear friends:
Do not give up on someone you have a burden for to receive Christ. God works in mysterious ways to bring people into His kingdom.
An example occurred shortly after we began the Campus Crusade for Christ ministry. A mother called me one day and told me about her son, a non-Christian, but who had been making contributions to this ministry through her. She asked me to witness to him. I learned that the son owned five newspapers. He was a man of great means, who had it all.
After several days I did call him and said, "Your mother tells me that you're the one who's giving this money. I want to thank you for what you're doing." He interrupted me and bluntly said, "I'm not a Christian. You know I'm not a Christian."
I replied, "Is there any reason?"
After a long silence, he said, "I can't think of any."
I said, "Come out to the university and join me in meeting with the students." To my surprise, he did come. It was a big fraternity house filled with excited college students, mostly new Christians and others who were seeking God. He looked around the room in awe.
"Are these people Christians?" he said. He had never seen anything like this. He later came to several meetings, but did not receive Christ. One night he went with me to a church service where I gave the invitation to receive our Lord. He and his wife slipped out the side door during my invitation to receive Christ.
They were pacing the sidewalk outside the church when I came out. As we were driving away, he said, "When you gave the invitation, we slipped out. We didn't want to be a part of that." But he added, "Is it too late for us to receive Christ."
When we returned home, we got on our knees and they received Christ. That night he and his wife read the Bible for hours, and even though an alcoholic, he never took another drink, as far as I know. For a couple of years I discipled him by taking him to skid row missions and prisons to witness. And he began giving his wealth to help promote the cause of Christ.
One day I said to him, "You know a lot of people who could do what you are doing at the prisons and on skid row. Somebody needs to go to the executives. Go to your peers and tell them what has happened." He did, and for many years had an impact on thousands of leading businessmen and women.
"If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature" (2 Corinthians 5:17 - KJV).

“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Luke 12:48b (NIV)
Devotion:
Okay, I’ll admit I’m no spring chicken, but I’m still full of life; so I decided that I would spend this year doing 51 things I’ve never done before (yes, that’s one thing for every birthday I’ve had). I wanted to do things I’ve always talked about doing, but somehow just never got around to doing.
It’s been fun to use the good china & crystal everyday, as well as the nice towels. I light my favorite candle each evening when I get home from work and I even drove a Jet Ski in the Atlantic Ocean while dolphins raced beside me. I’ve checked off many things from my list this year but there are still things to do before the year is done. Not to give the impression that I’ve only been doing things for myself this year, I also have a few items on my list that will allow me to “give back” to our community. For instance, I’ve always wanted to make dinner for the firemen at our local fire station.
When a neighbor’s home recently caught fire I was so impressed with the firemen who put out the fire and the care they gave to the gentleman living in the home who needed some minor medical attention. After the hoses were rolled up and the ladders stowed I spoke to the shift captain and volunteered to cook dinner for the men of the fire station. He replied “Thank you mam, people are always dropping off cookies; but no one has ever volunteered to feed all thirty-one of us”.
Thirty-one hungry firemen, oh my goodness! What have I gotten myself into? Oh well... numbers aside I said I wanted to do this and do it I will. I think a Thanksgiving dinner would be an appropriate way to say thanks and one way to give back to the men and women who serve my community.
As Thanksgiving approaches and thoughts turn to the food and the whirlwind of details associated with that holiday, I’m reminded that my blessings are too numerous to count or even measure. So this year as the turkey roasts and the marshmallows melt on top of the yams I will rejoice in this new Thanksgiving tradition. I indeed have been given so very much and now I want to find ways to give thanks to those who give of themselves everyday. I hope my list of fifty-one things to do will inspire you to find a way to give thanks to those who serve your community. I can’t think of a better time of year to do just that.
Dear Lord, You continue to lavish your blessings upon me and I am grateful. Help me to find ways to give thanks to those who serve and protect my community. Bless them and their families with Your grace and protection. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Keep No Record
Keep No Record
Today's Scripture
“…Love keeps no record of wrong done to it” (I Corinthians 13:5).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
The Bible says that God is love. He doesn’t just have love, He is love. The love we have is an extension of Him. When you invite Jesus to be the Lord of your life, the Bible says that He actually makes His home in your heart. Think about that for a minute. The Creator of the universe, who cannot be contained by anything, chose to make His home on the inside of your heart. That means that perfect love is on the inside of you. When you cooperate with God and submit your will to His, you are allowing His perfect love to flow through you. First Corinthians 13 tells us what that looks like. When we are walking in God’s love, we are patient. We are kind. Verse 5 says that love keeps no record of wrong. That’s simply forgiveness. Love always forgives. That doesn’t mean that the other person was right, it only means that you are choosing to let go of the bitterness, hurt, and anger. If you have a mental list of all the people who have hurt or offended you, let it go today. Cooperate with God and let His love work through you. As you do, you’ll see His power flow through you, and you’ll experience the life of victory God has promised!
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving and setting me free. Thank You for choosing to live on the inside of my heart. Show me if I am holding on to unforgiveness in any area so that I can forgive and walk in peace and victory today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Golden Compass Movie
Dear All,
I believe this email came in timely because i was just wondering whether it is ok to view this movie. Please forward this mail to all parents abt this so that they can tell their children abt this movie. I will also publish this in my blogpage at http://rhemalovers.blogspot.com to create awareness for all Christian families to know.
Prayer for all of you.
Father i thank you this timely email over the movie "The Golden Compass" that the evil one have been trying to cause us to denounce God... I pray all parents who receive this email will be spiritually alarmed and tell their children on the danger of this movie.I also like to pray for the children who listen to their parents have a spiritual knowing that God is protecting them from the schemes of the evil one. I emphasize on the prayer that Warring Angels to hover all over Singapore to keep all children and all adults.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (New International Version)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Yes Lord we say that we will humble ourselves and pray for our land Singapore. Forgive us for failing to keep our eyes on You Lord. I seek your forgiveness that You will show forth Your mighty power to cleanse Singapore from any harm in the form of media, sickness, word of destruction and emails. I plead the blood of Jesus over all our families, friends, associates and children (young and old) to keep them away from the ways of destruction and purity of God to flow over their hearts, minds, souls, words and actions. Cause us to fixed our eyes for You and You alone. Take away the spiritual blindness that is preventing us from seeing the glory and mighty works of God that is happening around us. Put in us the awareness of what to look out for and strengthen us with the vigilance to read the Bible more.
All these i ask and pray in Jesus name I pray, Amen!
Do keep Singapore in prayer as well. Thanks

Most of you probably have already read a similar email as this. But, just in case you haven't.
These are very serious times we are living in and the enemy would love nothing better then to capture our hearts and plant a seed of doubt where ever he can.
The movie “The Golden Compass” starring Nicole Kidman is coming to theaters. It is based on the trilogy of books by atheist, Phillip Pullman, of England and is geared towards kids. He wants kids to denounce God and Heaven but he does it in a very subtle way that parents may not pick up on what his true intentions are. In a 2003 interview, Pullman said, “My books are about killing God.”
Please don’t take your kids to see this movie!! Send this to EVERYONE you know!!! We need to get the word out about this movie and make sure that no one supports it!!!
The link below gives more information about the movie and Pullman . Go check it out…

Baptism
Baptism
Dr Jack Graham
Matthew 28:19
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Baptism should be important to followers of the Lord Jesus Christ because it was important to Him, plain and simple!
Not only was Jesus baptized at the outset of His ministry, He concluded His ministry with baptism. So don't you think we should make it a priority too? I think so!
If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, and you have never been baptized, then I want to challenge you today to do so. Let me share with you why...
First, baptism is a sign of your commitment to Jesus Christ. If you are truly committed to Jesus, then you need to make a public statement of that commitment, much like a wedding ring is a public expression of the commitment of a husband or wife.
Second, baptism is a symbol of your salvation. You need to publicly symbolize the sacrifice of Christ on your behalf and your submission to Him in your life.
Third, baptism is a sign of obedience. While there are many things you and I cannot do like Jesus Christ did, baptism is one thing that we can do exactly like He did! And when you are baptized, you are publicly declaring your obedience to Him.
Finally, baptism is a statement of your faith. When you're baptized, you're declaring to the world that you believe and belong to Jesus Christ. You are saying to everyone that you love Christ and want to follow Him with your whole heart.
Now, understand that being baptized doesn't save you. But I would encourage you today...if you're a believer and you've never been baptized...to prayerfully consider following Christ in this step of obedience. Through it, you will give a beautiful testimony of your faith in Him.
Jesus Made Baptism A Priority…..And So Should We!
<><><><><><> <><><><><> <><><><> <><><> <><> <> <><> <><><> <><><><> <><><><><> <><><><><><>
Father, I remember the day when I was baptized and washed off all my sins. Lord, it is Your grace that I must be counted worthy to be called Your child. Help me to keep Your commandments. Renew my strength this day that I may be strong in faith and increase in zeal. Preserve me for the glorious day of Your coming. I believe Your Word which says, "He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ". Lead me into greater spiritual depths even in the coming days. In Jesus' precious name I pray. Amen and Amen

Keeping Oaths
Keeping Oaths
by Os Hillman, October 31, 2007
This is what we will do to them: We will let them live, so that wrath will not fall on us for breaking the oath we swore to them. - Joshua 9:20
Joshua and the people of Israel were in the Promised Land. They were winning battles and were feeling good about their progress. One day a band of Gibeonites came by dressed as travelers in order to fool Joshua. They wanted to make Joshua believe they were merely travelers instead of enemies. The Gibeonites asked Joshua to make a peace treaty with them. Since Joshua chose to believe their story, he did just that. That was a mistake on Joshua's part. The Bible says Joshua did not inquire of the Lord about the Gibeonites. This forced Joshua to uphold the peace treaty with the Gibeonites, even though it was made under false pretenses.
Keeping our oaths before the Lord is a serious matter. One might think that Joshua had every right to consider the agreement with the Gibeonites null and void since it was done on false pretense. However, Joshua knew how God viewed oaths. He knew that a man's word, once it was given, should be good as done. There was no reversing it. He also knew that if he did not keep his oath, he was subject to God's disfavor, which meant his ways would not be blessed.
Whenever we become a child of God, we represent Him. When His children follow unrighteousness, He takes this personally. Unrighteousness opens us up to satan's attack. God's protection shield is removed. So Joshua knew that if he did not honor his oath, he would be subject to God's judgment.
Is there any unfulfilled oath you have made to anyone? Ask God this morning if you have not fulfilled a commitment to anyone. Then, if there is, go and fulfill. Otherwise, you will be subject to God's judgment for your unrighteousness.

Removing My Mask
Removing My Mask
By Janet Perez Eckles, a "She Speaks" graduate
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Matthew 5:8 (NIV)
Devotion:
"Yikes! You scared me," I screamed feigning fright. "Who’s that!" I peered down at the three-foot little person wearing a mask framed with wild hair colored in shades of black, purple, and pink. The features, distorted by a huge lumpy nose, droopy eyes and a mouth revealing crooked, jagged teeth, gave a new meaning to the word “ugly.”
A muffled, "Trick or treat" wafted from behind the mask. I chuckled as I dropped hard candy into the orange plastic pumpkin.
I have memories of my own boys dressed up in various costumes, dashing from house to house with their daddy trailing behind. I’d stay home to greet the neighborhood trick-or-treaters.
But now, years later, Halloween masks resemble those I myself try to slip on. They come in handy to cover the real me. So often in my life I’ve worn masks, perhaps not as horrid as the friendly trick-or-treater’s, but an effective masquerade nevertheless.
When people ask me how I lost my sight, I give the routine answer: "A disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa deteriorated my retina and took my sight."
A simple question followed by a simple answer. But when they ask about how I dealt with the unexpected tragedy, that’s a different story. I’m tempted to pull down the mask over my heart and give a bland answer.
"It was tough at first, but in time, I adjusted."
Underneath that mask, however, is a whole different script with the real answers: "I wanted to die, I hated my life, I wanted to give up, and wondered if my little boys would survive with a mommy who couldn’t see."
Then God’s Word nudged me to remove that mask and allow the glow of truth to shine through: “The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful” (Proverbs 12:22). In obedience, I resolved that when asked a question, I’d spill information that reflected what truly stirred in my heart.
Here are the results: when my words are strung with honesty without omissions, deletions or embellishments, I can breathe easier. When the mask is off, the air is fresher and the view is clearer. When it comes to sharing my feelings or relating events in my life, I’ve developed a motto: Don’t omit the negative or squelch the positive.
Not long ago, a good friend called and asked about my writing. I started to blurt out that it was great, moving along fabulously, and that my agent is working on a possible submission to a publishing house. But then I gulped and remembered that masks are stuffy, binding and often ugly. Instead, I decided to rip the mask off to pull out the truth: though my agent is working for me, I’m furiously laboring on the first edit. Writing a novel is grueling, it’s demanding and at times, the work is so hard that it makes me wonder if I’m really supposed to be doing this.
Ah! The feeling of telling the real scenario with honesty is like opening the window to a stuffy room and letting the fresh spring breeze come in to caress your face.
As our little ones unwrap their candy, I also peel off what hinders honesty in my heart--misleading comments, half-truths or words hiding my real feelings. Once all this is discarded, the reward appears in the mirror: a shining reflection that sparkles with sincerity and truth—a sweet fragrance to the Lord.
Dear Lord, thank you for giving me your Word to follow. Grant me the guidance when I speak, when I formulate my thoughts and prepare my replies to all situations. Grant me the wisdom to speak with a truthful heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Application Steps:
Before speaking, stop and measure your words—are they truthful, sincere and honest? If there’s a spot in your heart you’d rather hide from others, release it to the Lord and ask Him to grant you the courage to remove that mask.
Reflections:
Do I have the confidence in the Lord to know He accepts me as I am?
What keeps me from telling the complete truth? Am I hiding something for fear I might be judged?
Power Verses:
Proverbs 25:24, "A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but in his heart he harbors deceit."
Proverbs 2:7-8, "He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones."

The Need To Control
The Need To Control
by Os Hillman, October 3, 2007
"You acted foolishly," Samuel said.... - 1 Samuel 13:13
The prophet Samuel had anointed Saul the first king of Israel. Saul was now 30 years old and was leading the nation in battle against the Philistines. The Philistines had gathered at Micmash to come against Saul and his army. The Lord was directing Saul through the prophet Samuel. Samuel instructed Saul to go ahead of him to Micmash, and he would follow in seven days. He would then offer a burnt offering on behalf of the people of Israel.
The pressure began to build as the Philistines gathered around Micmash preparing for battle. The people of Israel grew fearful and began to scatter throughout the countryside. Saul was also afraid. Samuel did not show up on the morning of the seventh day. Finally, Saul, fearing the impending attack, took it upon himself to offer the burnt offering. After he had done this, Samuel showed up.
..."You have not kept the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, He would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. But now your kingdom will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after His own heart and appointed him leader of His people, because you have not kept the Lord's command" (1 Samuel 13:13-14).
Saul believed he needed to take control of the situation. Whenever we try to take control of a situation out of God's will, we demonstrate that we are led by fear. Many a boss is so driven by fear that he attempts to manage by over controlling his people. This results in co-dependent relationships in which the employees are fearful of making the wrong decisions, and are driven to please the manager at all costs. This results in loss of respect for the manager. Many times the employees make poor choices just to please their manager; as a result, resentment begins to build among the employees due to the manager's over-control.
Do you see any signs of over control in how you relate to others? Can you allow others the freedom to fail? Do you find yourself changing directions in midstream when you see something you don't like? Are you fearful of failure? These are all symptoms of a Saul-control spirit. Pray that God will allow you to walk in the freedom of trusting in Him and those around you.

Ephesians 5:19-20
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thoughts on today's verse
Hearts full of thanks -- that's what makes for good singing! With Jesus as the source of our salvation and center of our future, how can we not sing! But singing is not just for us and God. God wants our songs to bless others. It is our ultimate spiritual talk.
Prayer:
O Lord, my God, you are Awesome and wondrous. Your works are magnificent and your deeds are beyond comprehension. May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart ever declare your praises. May my heart be filled with thanksgiving for all that you have done to save us from sin, shame, law, and death. You alone are worthy of my praise, my songs, and my life. Through Jesus I pray. Amen.

Unconditional Peace
Unconditional Peace -- Matthew 6:31-34
When hardships come, a person's heart is prone to feel anxious and unsettled. But believers do not have to feel this way; we can be at peace even in the worst of times. The Bible says that God loves us and will be our rock in a constantly changing world (Psalm 18:2). This means we are not left alone to face our painful situations. When we trust the Lord's assurances, we can be calm, no matter what the situation may be.
To lay claim to God's assurance, we must put our faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins, because we cannot know peace if our eternal security is in question. Once we have become believers, it is vitally important that we make a regular practice of confronting, confessing, and turning away from our wrongs. Otherwise, sin will disrupt our fellowship with the Lord (Psalm 66:18). Sin and peace cannot inhabit the same heart.
Similarly, a heart cannot hold both anxiety and peace, which is why Jesus encouraged His followers to be concerned only with the needs of today (Matthew 6:31-34). Worrying about a troubling situation and seeking a solution apart from God leaves us in a state of unease. But when we focus upon the Lord and trust in His provision, anxiety and doubt flee. "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You" (Isaiah 26:3).
A pure, restful heart is a valuable asset in this crazy world. Situations will arise that shake us up and cause grief. But Jesus is close by to soothe the soul, quiet the mind, and bring peace to the heart.

The Faith of Works
The Faith of Works
by Jon Walker
“Dear brothers and sisters, what's the use of saying you have faith if you don't prove it by your actions? That kind of faith can't save anyone. … So you see, it isn't enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn't show itself by good deeds is no faith at all—it is dead and useless.” (James 2:14,17 NLT)
Consider this paraphrase of James 2:14,17 (based on the NLT):
Dear brothers and sisters, what's the use of saying you love your spouse if you don't prove it by the way you treat your spouse? That kind of impersonal love doesn’t make your relationship a marriage. … So you see, it isn't enough just to have an impersonal love. A theoretical love that doesn't show itself by intimate involvement in the life of your spouse is no love at all – it is dead and useless.
I use this example because it helps us see the holy union of faith and works. We can say we love our spouses, but without the “good works” of married life it’s hard to see the love. Yet we also can go through the motions of “good works” within a marriage without the presence of love.
Either way, we’ve missed the point and veered from God’s plain and simple plan. When it comes to faith and works, it basically works this way:
· We are saved by grace, through faith; this salvation is not from what we do, it is a gift from God; Salvation comes from faith and not by works, so that no one can boast about what they did to get to heaven. (Ephesians 2:7-10 NIV; Psalm 51:12 HCSB)
· God places the Holy Spirit within us, and we are energized by his spirit to do good works. (Colossians 1:29)
Paul says we’re compelled by love to do good works; it is possible, however, to fake faith by doing these good works. This may feel good bring us praise, but it will not earn salvation from God. It’s good works done in a faithless way – because they do not require faith, nor are they motivated by your faith.
James says it the other way around: You can claim faith all day long, but if your faith isn’t reflected in your actions, in the way you live your life, then you faith is dead. You’re living with a faith that has not been energized by the Spirit of God. It’s a theoretical faith that doesn’t compel you to pour your life into good and godly works.
Faith without works; works without faith – neither of these is God’s design. He designed us to live out a union of faith and works, so co-mingled that they reflect the very image of Christ.
What now?
· Work your faith – Let’s bring this lesson back down to an intimate level. Which takes more faith combined with works, for you to:
Participate in a mission project in a foreign country?
Treat your spouse with civility?
Submit to a boss you don’t respect?
· God’s energy directs your work for him – “To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.” (Colossians 1:28-29 NIV) Perhaps you never thought you’d hear this from a pastor, but there may be some good things you’re doing that you can stop doing – because God never meant for them to be part of your purpose or the works you were created to do. This is not an excuse to sit on the sidelines. The question is: What is God energizing you to do for him?
· God’s love compels you to good works – “For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.” (2 Corinthians 5 NIV) God’s love is within you, compelling you to good works. What good and godly work are you consistently compelled to do?

Editor’s note: We received a few e-mails regarding the “Iron Man” devotional. In that study, I encouraged you to pray for Brett Favre because I think, too often, Christians forget that “celebrities” are just regular people in need of God's love and guidance.
Regrettably, I wrote the prayer request under the assumption that Brett is not a believer. When I'm in my right mind, I’m careful how I write such prayer suggestions because only God knows the heart. But I messed up on this one and regret my mistake.
As one reader explained: “I received this daily devotional today and am a little disturbed by the last sentence, ‘Finally, pray for Brett Favre, who appears to be a very good man, but still a man in need of a Savior.’
“I am a friend of Brett's wife and Brett. I don't think that is an accurate or fair statement. Deanna and Brett have been through a lot over the past few years, and are probably closer to their Savior now than they ever have been!”

Gracious reader, I am an imperfect man serving a perfect God, and I am grateful for his patient love and your understanding. My assumption was false, but we can rejoice with God that he is at work in the Favres. – jw

--Matthew 4:19
And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
--Matthew 4:19
There are many, many reasons why people reject Jesus Christ. And one of the most popular excuses people give for rejecting Him is because of hypocrisy in the Church.
Yes, there are hypocrites in the Church of Jesus Christ. Think about it. Jesus had 12 disciples and one of them was even a hypocrite! So yes, there are--unfortunately--people who say they are Christians, and yet don't live like Christians.
But did you ever consider that the devil may put a hypocrite in your path just to keep you from Jesus Christ? The devil can do that. Let me help you understand why.
Have you ever considered that when people want to counterfeit something, they don't counterfeit gum wrappers? They counterfeit $20 bills, $100 bills...something that's real! So for people to counterfeit the Christian faith....and for the devil to put those counterfeits in your path...only indicates that Christianity is real!
Again, the fact that there are hypocrites in the Church doesn't lessen the credibility of the Christian faith. You need to make a distinction between sin and hypocrisy. All Christians sin.
But not all sinful Christians are hypocrites. Just because a Christian may sin doesn't mean that Christianity is phony. And...look again at today's verse. Jesus said, "Follow me." He didn't say, "Follow that person" or "Follow that church." He said, "Follow me"!
Jesus Christ isn't a hypocrite. When you follow Jesus Christ, you're following Someone who always keeps His promises...and you're following Someone who never sinned.
So Christianity doesn't stand or fall by the way a so-called Christian may act. Christian faith is in Jesus Christ! I hope this encourages you in your faith today.
The fact that there are hypocrites in the church doesn't lessen the credibility of the Christian faith.

The Conflict of Peace
The Conflict of Peace
by Jon Walker
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:7-9 NIV)
Peace is not the absence of conflict. In fact, true peace is only possible with conflict. God showed us this when, in order to open the path to peace with him, he sent the Divine Peacemaker, Jesus, to die on a brutal cross for our sins. He initiated this peace plan, even though we were the ones in rebellion; he paid the price for our peace with him, even though we fought against it.
We, too, are to meant to be peacemakers, shod with the sandals of peace (Ephesians 6:15), so that we are always ready to tell the Good News that people can have peace with God.
No matter where you go, you are a peacemaker – showing others how to make peace with God. As a peacemaker, you also begin the process of peace between you and those who stand against you (going as far as you possibly can under God’s leadership). And you help others make peace with each other.
As a peacemaker, it’s vital that you understand there is a difference between peace-making and peace-keeping. Peacemakers won’t settle for a tentative peace, and although I’m going to use some global terms here, think local, personal, intimate: Peace-makers won’t settle for a tense truce in their homes, an uneasy balance of power in their workplace, peace at any price in their marriage.
Instead, peacemakers are like the dentist C.S. Lewis speaks about in Mere Christianity. You go to the dentist because you have pain, and all you want is for him to stop the pain. But the dentist knows he must get to the root of the pain or the tooth will just keep causing problems.
Jesus is like that: We just want him to stop the pain, allow us to have peace, but he knows he has to get to the root of the problem or peace will be nothing more than a fleeting, fragile moment without conflict.
As God’s peacemakers, we’re to dig for the root and search for the resolution, allowing God to work in and through us.
What now?
· Jesus is our Peace – “For he himself is our peace … He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit (Ephesians 2:14a, 17-18 NIV)” How does this change the way you think about peace?
· Characteristics of a peacemaker – Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. By submitting to God’s wisdom they become “pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17-18 NIV)
· Peacemaking is an act of faith – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27 NIV) “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1 NIV)
· Peace with God binds us together – Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:3 NIV)
· Go in peace today – “Jesus said, ‘Your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’” (Mark 5:32 NIV)

A Pattern for Powerful Prayer -- Colossians 1:3-9
A Pattern for Powerful Prayer -- Colossians 1:3-9
God has ordained prayer as the way to approach Him for direction and help. The Savior's life exemplified this. He prayed before selecting His disciples, feeding the five thousand, and raising Lazarus from the dead. And at Gethsemane, as He was about to face His trial and crucifixion, Jesus spent time praying intensely. The Savior's whole life was one long communion with His Father so He could know and achieve God's will.
The apostle Paul had the same desire for himself and also for the church. His prayer--that the Colossians would understand and follow God's plan--can serve as a model for our own. He asked the Father to give them "wise minds and spirits attuned to His will" (Colossians 1:9 msg). Both are developed by the Holy Spirit in response to prayer.
Spiritual wisdom (v. 9 nasb) comes from a mind trained to focus on what matters to God and a spirit ready to accept His direction. This type of wisdom includes the ability to see the world as God does, identify where He is at work, and recognize when He is prompting us to join Him. Once we've received God's direction, our next priority is to carry out His instructions in a way that He approves, or as Paul said, to "walk in a manner worthy of the Lord" and to "please Him in all respects" (vv. 9-10). This prayer encompasses both actions and attitudes.
Imagine the glory that is brought to God when our character, conduct, and conversation give evidence of Christ's presence in our life. He desires to accomplish this in us, but first, we must ask.

“Watershed Moments”
“Watershed Moments”
By Pastor Ken Klaus
Mark 15:39 ~esv~
And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said,
"Truly this man was the Son of God!"
It's pretty easy to tell how old a person is by talking to them about "watershed moments."
Most of the Daily Devotion listeners or readers will remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard about the planes hitting the World Trade Center. Those who are older will be able to recall their situation when they first were told about President Kennedy being shot in Dallas. Those who have celebrated their 65th birthday can recall their activities on the December morning when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Those are watershed moments, events that are part of us and shape our thinking and lives.
Recently, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of such a watershed moment. On October 4, 1957, America was shocked when the Russians put Sputnik, the first satellite, into orbit around the earth. Not much larger than a beach ball, able to do little more than send back little beeps, Sputnik upset our apple cart.
With a foreign-made object regularly slashing through our skies, Americans realized the oceans would no longer protect them from foreign aggression. "After all," the thinking went, "if Russia can place a satellite over our heads, she can put a missile up there, too." Sputnik was a watershed event, which ignited America's desire to be first in the space race, the arms race, the missile race, and every other race. It was a matter of pride -and protection.
When I look through Scripture, I see many such watershed moments. When Moses took off his sandals in front of Sinai's burning bush, that was a watershed moment. When the jailer at Philippi didn't fall on his sword, that was a watershed moment. When the ladies went to Jesus' tomb on Easter morning, they had a watershed moment, too. One of the most special watershed moments I see in Scripture happens to the unnamed centurion who stood at Jesus' cross. A hardened soldier, used to pain and death, the representative of Rome was impressed by the way Jesus had died. He was impressed enough to confess, "Truly, this man was the Son of God!" It was a watershed moment for him, as it has been for millions. It needs to be for millions more.
Today, I ask you to think of one person in your life who needs to stand before Jesus' cross, who ought to gaze into His open tomb, who needs to see the risen Savior. Today, ask the Lord to send His Holy Spirit upon this special person. Ask God to soften a heart, call a lost sinner, and grant a watershed moment to your friend.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I have seen great events of history -events that have changed my life. But only the great story of the Savior: His life, death, and resurrection can change my eternity. Today, I pray that (Name Of Your Friend) can be granted a watershed moment and be brought to faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, his Savior. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Pursue Loyalty
Pursue Loyalty
Today's Scripture
“He who pursues righteousness and loyalty finds life” (Proverbs 21:21 NASB).
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Have you ever noticed that righteousness and loyalty go together? In other words, if we’re not being loyal—to our family, friends, country, job—then we aren’t going to experience God’s best. Loyal people are honorable people. When you’re loyal, you stick with someone through think and thin. When you’re loyal, you keep your word to people—even if you get a “better” offer. Loyal people are respectful of their country and leaders. Loyal people honor their parents and defend their family. When you’re loyal, you are a person of integrity. You build trust with others. Is this an area where you can rise higher? Can you be more loyal? Are you faithful in the things you’re committed to? Don’t let the distractions of every day life keep you from pursuing loyalty. Look for ways to show your loyalty to those around you. Is there something you can set aside for the sake of a loved one? Show that love by staying loyal. As you pursue loyalty and righteousness, just as this verse promises—you will find that abundant life the Lord has planned for you!
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of life in Your Word. Show me any area where I can rise up higher in pursuing loyalty. Help me, by Your Spirit, to be more faithful and supportive to those around me. Let Your light shine through me as I pursue righteousness and loyalty today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
